Analysis/Discussion of Questions asked in IBPS PO 3 online paper held on 19 oct 2013

This time the paper was little bit different from last year Question Paper. Non verbal reasoning (Diagramattic questions) was not there, Simplification was not there,  Error detection was not there,  2 Comprehensive were  there. They added some new topics this year.Here is the analysis of todays paper. Best of luck

Man Booker Prize 2013 Winner with some important aspects useful for competitive exams like IBPS PO,Clerk, SSC etc.

Eleanor Catton, the 28-year old author from New Zealand has won the Man Booker prize 2013 for her novel, The Luminaries , published by Granta.
She is not only the youngest novelist to win the coveted literary prize, but has set a new record for the longest winning novelThe Luminaries is 852 pages.
It is the last prize in the present format which is confined to Common wealth countries and Ireland. From next year it will be opened to the writers from all countries .

Medicine or Physiology
The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 2013 was awarded jointly to James E. Rothman, Randy W. Schekman and Thomas C. Südhof "for their discoveries of machinery regulating vesicle traffic, a major transport system in our cells".

Physics
The Nobel Prize in Physics 2013 was awarded jointly to François Englert and Peter W. Higgs "for the theoretical discovery of a mechanism that contributes to our understanding of the origin of mass of subatomic particles, and which recently was confirmed through the discovery of the predicted fundamental particle, by the ATLAS and CMS experiments at CERN's Large Hadron Collider"

Nobel Peace Prize
The Nobel Peace Prize 2013 was awarded to Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons "for its extensive efforts to eliminate chemical weapons".

Literature
The Nobel Prize in Literature 2013 was awarded to Alice Munro "master of the contemporary short story".

Chemistry
The Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2013 was awarded jointly to Martin Karplus, Michael Levitt and Arieh Warshel "for the development of multiscale models for complex chemical systems".

Food Security Bill Brief Description/Short Notes important for competitive exams like PO,SBI PO, LIC, Insurance, Intelligence Bureau etc.

Food Security Program is the Biggest program in the world which provide subsidised food grains to approximately two thirds of Indian population. It includes around 67 percent of India's population (75% rural, 50% Urban). The states are responsible for determining eligibility.The central government will provide funds to states in case of short supplies of food grains.The state governments will provide a food security allowance to the beneficiaries in case of non-supply of food grains. The eldest woman in the household, 18 years or above, is the head of the household for the issuance of the ration card. 
Under the provisions of the bill, beneficiaries are to be able to purchase 5 kg per eligible person per month of cereals (Rice INR3 per kg, Wheat INR2 per kg, Coarse Grain INR1 per kg)About 2.43 crore poorest of the poor families covered under the Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) scheme under PDS (Public Distribution System) would continue to get 35 kg of food grains per family per month but with legal entitlement. Pregnant women and lactating mothers are entitled to a nutritious "take home ration" of 600 Calories and a maternity benefit of at least  INR6,000 for six months.Children 6 months to 14 years of age are to receive free hot meals or "take home rations".
Chhattisgarh is the first state to pass legislation on food security.

Tennis four Grand Slam name with brief Description important for exams like SSC, PO, LIC, Insurance etc.

In TENNIS the four Grand Slam are the most important tennis events.The chronological order of the grand slam is as follows:
Australian open is the first event to be held in mid January followed by the French open in May/June, Wimbledon in June/July and the US open in August/September.

Australian Open is the first of the four Grand Slam tennis event of the year, held in Melbourne Australia. The first Australian open held in 1905. Since 1988 the tournament has been played on Hard Courts.

French Open is chronologically the second Grand Slam event of the year, held in Paris, France. It was first held in 1891. It is played on Clay Court.

Wimbledon is the oldest tennis tournament in the world held  in London, England every year, since 1877. It is played on Grass court.

US Open is chronologically the last Grand slam tournament of the year. It is a Hard Court tennis tournament played at New York City, New York, United States. It was first played in 1881.

Seven Summits : Highest mountain peaks of the seven continents with country name important for all the competitive exams including UPSC, SSC, PO, Insurance etc.

The seven summits are the highest peaks of the seven continents.

Mount Everest(Asia) is the highest peak in the world lies on the border between Nepal and the Tibet autonomous region of China. It is 8848 m above sea level in the Great Himalayas mountain range.

Mount Aconcagua(South America) is the highest peak outside Asia. It is the highest peak in South America in Argentina. It is 6961 m above sea level in the Andes mountain range .

Mount McKinley(North America) is the third highest peak in the world and the highest in North America. It is located in the Alaska Range in US and it's height is 6194 m above sea level.

Mount Kilimanjaro(Africa) is the highest mountain peak in Africa. It is a large strato volcano and lies in Tanzania in Africa. It is 5895 m above sea level.

Mount Elbrus(Europe) is the highest mountain peak in Europe. It lies in the Caucasus mountain range in Russia and it's height is 5642 m above sea level.

Vinson Massif(Antarctica) is the highest peak in Antarctica and lying in the Sentinel range. It's height is 4892 m above sea level.

Puncak Jaya(Australia) is the highest peak in Australia continent in the Sudirman range in Indonesia. It is 4884 m above the sea level.

Note: Do not confuse Mount Kosciuszko with Puncak Jaya. Mount Kosciuszko(2228 m) is the highest peak in Australia(country) and Puncak Jaya is the highest peak in Australia continent.
